The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the 9th report of the United Nations Secretary-General on the implementation of Resolution 2231, which emphasized the use of weapons of "Iranian origin" in several attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last year. This came in a statement by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami. Ambassador Al-Muallami stressed that Saudi Arabia has constantly warned of the security consequences of the arms agreements that have ignored Iran's regional expansion and ignored the legitimate security concerns of countries in the region, indicating that it is good to see international partners now realizing long-term concerns about the hateful agenda of regional expansion of Iran. He clarified that, since the Coalition to Support legitimacy in Yemen started its mission according to Security Council Resolution 2216, member states of the coalition, along with other friendly countries, have intercepted Iranian arms shipments that were destined for the Houthi militia in Yemen. The coalition found that there are similarities between weapons provided by Iran with its terrorist militias in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, and those supplied to the Houthi militia in Yemen, he added. Ambassador Al-Muallami pointed out that since the beginning of the war in Yemen, the Houthi militia launched 1659 attacks on civilians in Saudi Arabia, in addition to 318 Iranian-made ballistic missiles and 371 drones against the cities and villages of Saudi Arabia, as well as 64 explosive boats to prevent free shipping in Bab's Mandate and the Red Sea. He indicated that, moreover, in the face of repeated attacks, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exercised the utmost restraint, even in cases where the source of those attacks was clear, such as those that were launched on Abqaiq and Khurais and came from the north, not the south. Ambassador Al-Muallami stressed that Saudi Arabia is working closely with international partners to mobilize international allies in an attempt to end this threat that Iran poses to the international community, calling to not be ignored and that the arms embargo should not be ended.
