Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh announced new restrictions on Saturday amid a rise in cases of the novel coronavirus in the West Bank, dpa reported. Blockades are now in place in Hebron and Nablus, the cities worst affected by the outbreak. Shtayyeh called on people to wear protective face masks and to follow social distancing guidelines. Weddings are not allowed for the time being. The pandemic has not had a severe impact on the Palestinian Territories so far, and restrictions were lifted a month ago. However, cases have increased steadily in recent days, to reach 711 in the West Bank and more than 70 in Gaza. Three people have died so far.
