The Yemeni government stressed the importance of increasing support for its country by the Board of Directors of the World Bank (WB) as Yemen is facing huge challenges due to the war being fueled by the Iranian-backed terrorist Al-Houthi militia, outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and climate change with their extreme negative impacts and internal pressure on economy and infrastructure, straining all aspects of life in Yemen. This came during a virtual official discussion session between the Yemeni government and the World Bank, held on Friday evening under the chairmanship of the Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik, and the Vice-President of the World Bank Group for Middle East and North Africa Affairs Ferid Belhaj, in the presence of the Executive Director and the Dean of the WB's Board of Directors, Dr. Merza Hasan. Yemeni Prime Minister called on WB Group to reconsider restructuring of support being provided to Yemen according to the priorities of the current health, humanitarian and economic conditions.
