Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden last night secured enough delegates to formally win the Democratic presidential nomination, setting the stage for a challenge to President Donald Trump in the November election. A candidate needs at least 1,991 delegates to secure the nomination. Biden crossed the threshold when results came late on Friday after seven states and the District of Columbia held presidential primaries earlier in the week. Biden, who is 77, spent 36 years in the Senate and held a number of political positions, most notably the position of Vice President Barack Obama.
