German exports fell slightly in August, the government's statistics agency said Friday, in a sign that the strong support from exports for the country's budding recovery is beginning to ease amid a slower world economy. Exports fell 1.4 percent from the month before, the Federal Statistics Office said, while imports also dipped by a bare 0.1 percent. Compared to the same month a year ago, exports still grew by 12.8 percent in August, a token of what economists say will be the strongest world economic growth in three decades this year. --SP 1449 Local Time 1149 GMT
