The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ASICTP), Trieste, Italy, have entered into an agreement for enhanced cooperation in science and technology, according to an official statement. A protocol to the effect was signed by PAECChairman Parvez Butt and ASICTP Director KR Sreenivasan at Trieste on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the Center. "Realizing the importance of strengthening the longstanding and fruitful cooperation between the ASICTP and the PAEC, which has immensely benefited a number of Pakistani scientists over the years, the ASICTP shall support 25 fellowships from the PAEC every year," the protocol said. This is sequel to the mandate of the ASICTP to foster advanced scientific research in the developing countries.
