The Transportation, Communications and Information Technology Committee of the Shura Council held a virtual meeting chaired by the Council Member Major General Engineer Nasser bin Ghazi Al-Otaibi, with participation of Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi. The meeting discussed contents of the annual report of the CITC for the fiscal year 1440/1441 AH, and the achievements with the direct support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the area of frequency assignments owned by other government bodies and transferred them to the Commission, which contributed to the Kingdom's international advanced positions in the field of internet speed. The meeting also discussed the expansion in the field of broadband networks deployment and user protection and reviewed the Commission's most important achievements and future plans. The Committee reviewed CITC's work during the COVID-19 pandemic, which witnessed an increase in requests for internet packages, requiring continuous monitoring of service providers, receiving complaints related to them and speeding up their solution.
