During its participation in the virtual summit of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed its commitment to the goals and principles of the movement, and calls on all members to present a united front against this common threat of the spread of the novel coronavirus, by strengthening the global response to address the health, economic and social effects of this pandemic and doing everything necessary to overcome its effect, which knows no international borders or differentiates between beliefs, religion or race. His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated during his participation in the virtual summit, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia believes in its pivotal role, as it continued its national efforts to enhance the rapid response to tackle the repercussions of the pandemic and limit its health and economic impact and was quick to take all preventative and precautionary measures to protect, without distinction, citizens and residents living in the Kingdom. Adding that the Kingdom took the initiative to enhance international cooperation, in light of its presidency of the G20 this year, by calling for an extraordinary virtual summit of leaders of the G20 countries, under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to support international efforts to confront the crisis. In his speech, His Highness indicated that the G20 successful summit resulted in taking a number of important decisions to confront the effects on the global economy, including: The commitment of the G20 countries to the global economy by 5 trillion dollars to help stabilize the economy and the financial sector, and work to promote a rapid response to help countries in need and support by suspending debt owed by the poorest countries, through the agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and to lend support to emerging and developing countries in addressing the health, economic and social ramifications caused by the outbreak of the pandemic, and to suspend debt service payments for the poorest countries, through a joint document of terms and conditions which was approved by the Paris Club. His Highness pointed out that as an extension of these efforts, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued directives to donate five hundred million US dollars. This donation will aid international organizations specialized in enhancing preparedness, improving emergency response, developing diagnostic tools and new vaccines, and ensuring that adequate preventive equipment is provided to health workers. Moreover, the Kingdom has announced the provision of $ 10 million to the World Health Organization to support its efforts and actions taken to combat this pandemic.
