Two U.S. soldiers were wounded when a roadside bomb slammed their armored personnel carrier in Bagdad's Sard City slum Saturday, the military said. The soldiers were evacuated to a medical facility after the attack, said Capt. Brian O'Malley, a spokesman for the 1st Cavalry Division. The attack came as U.S. forces clashed Saturday with insurgents in the western Baghdad slum, police and witnesses said. An AP Television News cameraman saw intense fire from a heavy machine directed against two rebels who were running along a street and then dropped to the ground. One escaped but the other lay dead on the ground after the barrage. The fighting came after American warplanes and tanks attacked insurgents holed up in the neighborhood overnight.
