The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the unilateral comprehensive ceasefire announced by the Joint Forces Command of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in the Republic of Yemen for extendable two weeks, starting today, in response to UN call. In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends the decision as brave and expressing a noble humanitarian stance that considers the urgent international circumstances imposed by the spread of the Coronavirus in the countries of the region and the world at large. It also hailed it as responding to the concerns on life and safety of Yemeni people and their highest interests, and indicative of a sincere desire to spare the brotherly Yemeni people the consequences of this International Pandemic. The Bahraini Ministry also hails the generous support announced by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to help the brotherly Yemeni people overcome the economic circumstances, meet their living needs and alleviate their sufferings. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses hope that the Houthi group will respond to this wise humanitarian initiative that would open the way to a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in all Yemeni territories and thus sparing the blood of Yemeni people and paving the way for resumption of political negotiations through the efforts of UN Secretary-General's Envoy Martin Griffiths to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the crisis.
