King Abdullah II postponed for two months the opening of the regular session of parliament to give the government time to draft a set of bills and allow a Cabinet reshuffle, government officials said Tuesday. Under the constitution, the 110-seat Chamber of Deputies must sit on Oct. 1 each year. The king, who commands absolute powers, can use his authority to delay the session by a maximum of two months. A royal decree, carried by the official Petra news agency, did not disclose a reason for the delay of the opening of parliament until Dec. 1.
