The committee concerned with following up the health situation of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) affirmed the importance of continuation of applying and enhancing all precautionary measures in all entry ports as well as all precautionary measures to contain this virus. The committee hailed the society's interaction with the curfew order, calling on them to stay at home. The committee held here today its 34th meeting under chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawazan Al-Rabiah in presence of the members of all governmental relevant entities. During the meeting, the committee reviewed all reports and developments of the virus as well as the epidemiological situation of the virus worldwide including the confirmed cases in the Kingdom. The committee urged all to stay at homes except there is need. Following the meeting in a press conference, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aali, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the total number of confirmed cases with the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to 383,000, adding that 102,000 cases recovered so far. He disclosed that the number of deaths reached 16,600. "As many as 205 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in the Kingdom, including 119 cases are linked with travel and are isolated since their arrival to the Kingdom's ports. Forty three cases are recorded recently for persons who were in contact with previous cases. The rest of cases are under epidemiological investigation," he added. "The confirmed cases covered many cities in the Kingdom, including 82 in Jeddah, 69 in Riyadh, twelve in Baha, eight in each of Bisha and Najran, six in each of Abha, Dammam and Qatif, three in Jazan, two in each of Khobar and Dhahran and one in Madinah. The accumulated COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom are 767. All cases are receiving medical care with their situations diagnosed as stable, except three as critical, he said, announcing a death for 51-year-old Afghan resident in Madinah who came to emergency department while his health condition was rapidly deteriorating. He added that nine cases recovered, bringing to 28 the total number of recoverees. The Spokesman of the Health Ministry urged all to abide by the health and life-saving instructions, calling to avoid shaking hands, washing hands continuously, staying away from gatherings and applying 14-day health isolation for anyone coming from abroad. He called on everyone to take advantage of the self-assessment service about the symptoms of the new Coronavirus, which is available on MAWID electronic application.
