El Salvador is introducing a 30-day mandatory quarantine to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, President Nayib Bukele has said, according to dpa. "Starting tonight we have decided to decree a complete home quarantine in the national territory for 30 days," Bukele said Saturday in comments shared by the presidency's press secretariat on Twitter. "Nobody will be able to leave their home," he added before clarifying that people would be allowed to shop for essential goods and that key workers would be allowed to continue working. "People not following these measures will be taken to a containment centre," Bukele said.
