The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) advanced to 27th globally and to the second in the Arab world, on the World Happiness Report 2020, issued by the United Nations, among the 156 countries covered in the report, which is issued annually in conjunction with World Happiness Day, on March 20. The report measures the indicators of happiness, well-being and quality of life, and it is the eighth report since the launch of the index, which witnessed the Kingdom's progress to 27th, a step forward, as it has ranked 28, in 2019. Meanwhile, it ranked 33, in 2018. The report ranked 186 cities globally in terms of well-being and happiness. In a breakdown of the KSA cities on the index, Madinah ranked 46, Jeddah 59, Riyadh 62 and Makkah 65. The report predicted that the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah would enter the list of the best 20 cities in the world in the future, and Makkah would reach 35.
