The multi-government agencies committee concerned with following up the health situation of the Coronavirus held its 20th meeting today under the chairmanship of Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah to review all reports and developments of the virus as well as the epidemiological situation of the virus worldwide including the confirmed cases in the Kingdom, with an emphasis on applying all preventive measures in entry ports. Following the meeting, Dr. Mohamed Al-Abd Al-Aali, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the total number of confirmed cases with the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to 114,000 cases in 115 countries, adding that 64,000 cases recovered so far, representing 56% of the total. He added that the number of deaths reached 4,000 cases representing 3.4% of the total confirmed cases. "So far, 20 cases are confirmed in the Kingdom, equally shared by the two genders. The average age of those who contracted the disease is 47. Seven cases have been linked to arrivals coming from Iran, three from Iraq, three passing through Iran and Iraq, two from Egypt, one from The Philippines, whose situation is currently diagnosed as critical, and four cases recorded due to contacting with positive cases. He indicated that the epidemiological investigation was conducted while 800 cases of direct contacts were counted, pointing out that those examined in the ports exceeded half a million people. He pointed out that the Health Center 937 has received more than 60,000 calls about the new Coronavirus, warning of rumors about this virus.
