Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council held a meeting in New York today with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell on the fringes of the United Nations 59th general assembly. Dr. Nizar bin Obeid Madani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, leads the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the session. Following the meeting, Abdulrahman bin Hamad Alatiyyah, the Secretary General of the GCC, who also participated in the meeting, said the talks dealt with issues of mutual concern to the GCC member countries and the U.S. He said the meeting also dealt with economic issues, notably ways of enhancing and supporting the negotiations between the GCC countries and U.S.
