China's Hubei province on Monday reported 100 new coronavirus deaths over the last 24 hours, a decline in daily fatalities at the centre of the Covid-19 outbreak. Over the previous 24-hour-period, 139 deaths were reported. In total 1,696 deaths were recorded, the Hubei Health Commission said. According to the commission, 1,933 new cases of pneumonia caused by the virus were reported, bringing the total since the beginning of the outbreak to more than 58,000. The vast majority of these cases - 41,000 - occurred in the city of Wuhan, where the virus is believed to have spread from a wet market. The commission said that more than 40,000 people remained hospitalized, among them 1,773 critical and more than 8,000 severe cases.
