U.S. President George W. Bush was scheduled Sunday to visit the areas in west Florida and coastal Alabama worst hit by Hurricane Ivan. The storm death toll stood at 42 people, many of whom killed by tornadoes spun off by the hurricane, as a weakened but still powerful storm front moved northward. More than 30 tornadoes struck the state of Virginia alone as the storm left a trail of destruction through 13 states. Experts cited by U.S. broadcast media said the damage from Ivan could be higher than that caused by hurricanes Charley and Frances, which was expected to total more than 10 billion dollars. --SP 2237 Local Time 1937 GMT
