The 4th Meeting of the Executive Council of the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) was kicked off today in Jeddah, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Media and President of IBU Executive Council Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah. The Minister of Media gave a speech in which he welcomed everyone, wishing them a pleasant stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hoping that the meeting will achieve desired goals. The Minister added that this meeting comes at a time where the need to activate joint Islamic institutions action is growing, especially in the field of media, to meet growing challenges and to formulate a solid media discourse that serves and defends our common issues. He also said that there is no doubt that this institution is one of the most important international institutions that can be relied on in this aspect, given its great experience in dealing with media issues and being one of the specialized OIC bodies that is counted on to play a pivotal role in coordinating joint media work in the field of radio and TV at the level of the Islamic world. The Minister of Media stressed that these challenges require working to develop a unified strategy in dealing with them efficiently and effectively, based on studying the best international models and coordinating the efforts of Islamic countries in the media in a way that ensures building a sound and correct global mental image of them. He expressed his hope that today's meeting will contribute to achieving this by developing mechanisms of the Islamic Broadcasting Union and strengthening its international presence.
