The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a workshop here to promote the concept of family bank in G5 African Sahel Countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Mauritania and Mali). The two day workshop will be held in partnership with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) during the period of 19-20 January 2020. The workshop comes in the framework of implementing the resolution issued by 7th Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women, which was approved by the 47th session of Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC. The workshop aims to support efforts of G5 African Sahel Countries in terms of empowering women entrepreneurs to alleviate sufferings of the people in these societies. The main objectives of the workshop include introducing the concept of family bank that was established by Sudan Microfinance unit, exchanging experiences on microfinance expertise and present cases of microfinance in member countries of OIC. Participants in the workshop will include experts from family banks in Sudan, affiliated institutions to OIC, such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Solidarity Fund and experts from different organizations.
