The European Union called upon all parties to the conflict in Libya to support the United Nations efforts to bring peace and return to the dialogue table in order to find a political solution to the crisis in the country. In a joint statement, the Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States expressed their firm conviction that the Libyan crisis cannot be resolved by military means, affirming that the ongoing conflict will only increase the suffering of the people and strengthen the divisions and instability in Libya. The European Union called on all members of the international community to comply with the UN resolution on the arms embargo, adding that continued external interventions are fueling the fire of the crisis. The EU stressed, in particular, the need to prevent any unilateral action.
