Asian stock markets were mixed Monday, AP reported. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.1% to 2,875.99 and Tokyo's Nikkei 225 gained 1.0% to 23,529.50. Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.4% to 26,454.27. Seoul's Kospi was 0.2% higher at 2,091.78 and Sydney's S&P-ASX 200 advanced 0.2% to 6,862.30. New Zealand declined while Southeast Asian markets were mixed. Benchmark U.S. crude rose 92 cents to $56.09 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It lost $2.94 the previous session to $55.17. Brent crude, used to price international oils, rose 78 cents to $61.27 per barrel in London. It fell $2.78 the previous session to $60.49. The dollar gained to 109.64 Japanese yen from Friday's 109.48 yen. The euro slipped to $1.1017 from $1.1019.
