A medical team at Asir Central Hospital has successfully saved a patient's life who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) department. The patient suffered from Respiratory Tract Infection (RTI) causing a complete respiratory failure. The patient did not respond to artificial respiration methods. The medical team using extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, known as "ECMO," has put the patient on the ECMO machine for 18 days. ECMO helped the lungs to recover and have natural respiration. The patient is in a good health and was discharged from ICU after staying for 35 days.
