Australia on Sunday offered to send a police anti-terrorism team to help Russian authorities in the wake of the Beslan school siege tragedy. Prime Minister John Howard has sent a message of sympathy to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the death of 330 Russians during the siege. "I think it's important to be ready to offer help and I know the local Russian Orthodox community is itself raising resources," Howard said. The Labor Party's Mark Latham, leader of the opposition in parliament, said those who perpetrated the attack were sub-human. "The people who've done this deserve to rot in hell," Latham said. "When you go out of your way to harm children I think you've lost the tag of being a real human being - you've gone into another category that deserves absolute contempt and condemnation."
