Published in Saudi Press Agency on 27 - 09 - 2019

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed that the recent hostilities and attacks on its oil facilities exposed the nature of the Iranian regime to the whole world, noting that the world is facing a rogue and terrorist regime, threatening international peace and security, energy security and the global economy.
This came in a speech delivered by Saudi Foreign Minister Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf at the 74th session of United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf described what occurred on 14th of September as a serious threat that violates the principles and charter of this organization and threatens the security, stability and prosperity of our region and the world, which necessitates a historic position from all of us.
Minister Al-Assaf stated that the sabotage attacks on the two oil facilities at Abqaiq and Khurais in the Kingdom using 25 Cruise missiles and drones, caused a 50% decrease in oil production equivalent to approximately 5.7 million barrels, are a flagrant violation of international laws and norms and an attack on international peace and security and constitute a major threat to oil supplies to world markets.
Al-Assaf pointed that who stands behind such sabotage attacks, they also attacked commercial vessels in the Gulf of Oman in June and July as their proxies launched attacks on Abha Airport in July and Shaybah oil field in August.
The Foreign Minister noted that this regime carried out terrorist acts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, European countries and throughout the world as well as its involvement in assassinations of a number of Saudi diplomats in Thailand in 1989 and 1990, the Saudi diplomat in the city of Karachi in 2011, and in the same year they attempted to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States and their assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri in Beirut in 2005 along with their terrorist acts in Denmark, France, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and other countries in the region.
Minister Al-Assaf affirmed that this organization, and the world as a whole are facing a moral and historical responsibility to deter and stand up against the terrorist and aggressive behavior of the Iranian regime in order to maintain the international peace and security, stability of the world economy and energy security.
