Asian stock markets were mixed Monday, AP reported. Hong Kong's benchmark tumbled 1% while Seoul advanced and Shanghai and Sydney were little-changed. Japanese markets were closed for a holiday. The Hang Seng index declined to 27,066.59 points The Shanghai Composite Index was off 2 points at 3,029.46 as trading resumed following a three-day holiday weekend. Sydney's S&P-ASX 200 was up 1 point at 6,670.30. Seoul's Kospi gained 0.5% to 2,058.65 while India's Sensex lost 0.4% to 37,222.43. Markets in Southeast Asia retreated. Benchmark U.S. crude rose $4.40 to $59.25 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract lost 24 cents on Friday to close at $54.85. Brent crude jumped $5.30 or 8.9%, to $66.52 per barrel. The dollar declined to 107.92 yen from Friday's 108.09 yen. The euro was little changed at $1.1072.
