The Ministry of Culture participated here in the conference entitled (Maintaining Large Industries in a Changing Environment), which was held from 11 to 13 September. The conference discussed the future of industrial heritage in the face of a rapidly changing environment, the role of social relations, architectural designs and infrastructure, climate change and its impact on the preservation of old buildings and machinery. The delegation representing the Ministry gave a presentation on the ministry's interest in developing the industrial heritage and its experience in the use of innovative means to identify sites and stimulate community participation through a competition launched last July; within the industrial heritage program announced by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, concerned with industrial heritage under the umbrella of the Ministry and the establishment of the Saudi Society for Preservation of Industrial Heritage. It is worth mention that the Big Stuff Conference is held every three years and focuses on the special challenges of preserving industrial heritage and discussing it with heritage specialists and academics, as well as presenting different experiences from countries and entities interested in industrial heritage for knowledge transfer.
