The White House announced today sanctions against Lebanon's Jammal Trust Bank (JTB) for its links to terrorist Hezbollah and Iran. The US Treasury Department listed the bank along with three of its insurance companies on the sanctions list. It said: "The bank is involved in sponsoring and providing funds to Hezbollah and technology support, and provides financial services to the party's Executive Board and the "Foundation of the Martyrs" based in Iran. US Treasury Department's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Sigal Mandelker said corrupt financial institutions such as Jammal Trust Bank pose a direct threat to Lebanon's sovereignty and financial system.
