Colombian forces killed two rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and freed a businessman who had been kidnapped, Radio Carcaol reported Wednesday. A total of 130 soldiers and elite forces took part in the operation in the southern Bogota suburb of Chipaque, Colonel Jose Humberto Jerez was quoted as saying. The Marxist rebels have been waging a civil war with the government for 40 years and repeatedly kidnap people to finance their activities.
