Spc. Charles Graner, the U.S. soldier identified in testimony as leader of the alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, went before a military judge on Monday for a pretrial hearing. Graner is among four soldiers facing hearings this week at a heavily secured U.S. military base in Mannheim. Spc. Megan Ambuhl's case was to be heard later Monday, while Staff Sgt. Ivan Frederick and Spc. Javal Davis had hearings set for Tuesday. As the hearing opened, the military court took up a request by Graner's lawyers to suppress evidence, including the seizure of a computer. Graner was sitting in the courtoom showed no emotion as the proceedings began.
