Iyad bin Amin Madani, Saudi Arabia's Hajj minister, was awarded an honorary doctorate degree for his role in the service of pilgrims, it was announced here today. During a graduation ceremony of a new batch of students at the International Islamic University in Malaysia, Iyad bin Amin Madani was awarded honorary doctorate in international relations for his role in the achievements carried out in the field of Hajj and Umrah (minor Hajj). The ceremony was patronized by Malaysia's Sultan Ahmed Shah and attended by Brunei's Sultan Hasan Albulqiya and a number of international Islamic dignitaries. In a key address, the Principal of the university Dr. Mohammed Kamal Hasan highlighted the achievements of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj during the current era of Madani. He cited the electronic Umrah project, summer Umrah, linkage of the Ministry with the Internet, the Hajj grand annual symposium, Hajj ministry's magazine and Hajj advanced services. On his part, Madani, who was also present at the event, thanked the Senate of the university for this honor, noting that the service of pilgrims comes top of the Saudi leadership's priorities.
