Asian markets rose Monday, AP reported. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 added 2.1% to 21,729.97. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.4% to 6,648.10. South Korea's Kospi was marginally higher at 2,131.05. Hong Kong's markets were closed for a holiday. The Shanghai Composite rose 2.1% to 3,042.50. Benchmark crude oil rose $1.52 to $59.99 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It fell 96 cents to $58.47 a barrel on Friday. Brent crude, the international standard, rose $1.70 to $66.44 a barrel. The dollar rose to 108.35 Japanese yen from 107.87 yen on Friday. The euro inched down to $1.1329 from $1.1371.
