Leaders and heads of delegation of the G-20 countries held here today a session of the Summit entitled "Digital Economy". The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Head of the Kingdom's delegation participating in the Summit. The session addressed the importance of digital transformation and its important role in societies as a source of economic growth and social well-being in all countries. The session pointed to the need for local and global debate on harnessing all the potential of available data and the digital economy to foster innovation so that countries and communities can keep up with the pace of development in the fast-growing digital economy and maximize the benefits of emerging digital technology. During the meeting, the leaders emphasized the G20 countries' position with World Trade Organization (WTO) members who participated in the joint statement on e-commerce to launch the Osaka Track and their commitment to international policy debate and the development of rules on e-commerce in the WTO.
