Greek Olympics officials said they were unaware of any team member failing a drugs test after media reports on Friday that the International Olympic Committee had found a Greek competitor had taken banned substances. "We have no knowledge of anything concerning any of our athletes. We have not received any information regarding such an incident," Greek Olympic team spokesman George Gakis told Reuters. The International Olympic Committee had no immediate comment. After a spate of positive tests before the Games in weightlifting, media reports - also denied by team officials - were focused on the Greek weightlifting squad. If true, the reports carried on several radio and television stations would be a further blow to the host nation's pride after a doping scandal forced its two top sprinters out of the Games. Two stations said the latest alleged case involved an athlete who had already taken part in the first week of competition. On Wednesday, Greece's Olympic 200 meters champion Costas Kenteris and his training partner, 100 meters silver medallist Katerina Thanou, pulled out of the Games after days of scandal surrounding missed dope tests.
