Haitian paramilitary leader acquitted of murder accusations

au-Prince, Aug. 17, SPA -- Haitian rebel leader Louis Jodel Chamblain has been acquitted of murder charges, a Port-au-Prince radio
station reported Tuesday.
The court found no indication that Chamblain was involved in the murder of businessman Antoine Izmery in January 1993, according to the report.
Chamblain was a major player in the collapse of President Jean Bertrand Aristide in February. He remains in custody to face charges in connection with a massacre during the last military dictatorship from 1991 to 1994. --SP 2312 Local Time 2012 GMT
