A number of Arab countries today denounced subjecting four commercial cargo ships near UAE territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, east of Fujairah, and in the economic waters of the UAE to sabotage operations. In separate statements, each of Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan described the event as a serious development and escalation that reflects evil intents of the sides who planned and executed those operations putting the safety of navigation in the region to a great jeopardy and threatening the lives of civil crews working on sea vessels. The three countries' foreign ministries expressed support by the side of the UAE, and called on the world community and international authorities in charge of maritime navigation to practice their political and legal responsibilities to prevent any parties from tampering the security and safety of maritime navigation in this vital region, confirming that such irresponsible activities are doomed to increase the degree of tension and struggle in the region and jeopardize the interests of their peoples.
