His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense donated a sum $50 million, to restore ramshackle buildings, in the historical sites of Ancient Jeddah, as the first phase. The donation aimed at restoring those buildings resembling architectural landmarks, as a contribution from HRH Crown Prince to back up projects that would maintain ancient historical and cultural features of the Kingdom. Such a gesture by HRH Crown Prince to rehabilitate these parts of Jeddah, falls in line with UNESCO's prerequisites to enlist Ancient Jeddah on the World Heritage List, in compatibility with the Kingdom Vision 2030. In his directive, HRH Crown Prince instructed that the restoration project shall be done by Saudi nationals, under well experienced supervisors specialized, in the domain, to keep the distinctive face of Ancient Jeddah and its unique architectural features that reflect troves of edifices that go back to over 500-Year old, in history.
