U.S. President George W. Bush wrapped up a five-day campaign swing with a rally in the battleground state of Iowa on Saturday and scheduled a quick trip to Florida to survey hurricane damage in a state he needs to win in the November election. It was Bush's second visit to Iowa in the past 10 days, reflecting the closely fought contest in a state he lost by only 4,144 votes to Democrat Al Gore in 2000. A Strategic Vision poll taken July 31-Aug. 3 gave Democrat John Kerry a lead in Iowa of 49 percent to 46 percent for Bush. About 10,000 cheering, flag-waving Bush supporters jammed the Tysons Event Center for a rally that was the last for Bush on a five-day trip that took him to Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington state. "The crowds are large, the enthusiasm is strong and there's no doubt in my mind that with your help we will carry Iowa and we will win a great national victory in 2004," Bush said. --MORE 2330 Local Time 2030 GMT
