A typhoon hit the southeastern coast of China on Friday, killing at least 29 people and injuring more than 1,500, the Xinhua news agency reported. Xinhua quoted local officials as saying that Typhoon Rananim had destroyed more than 2,200 houses in Zheijang province and caused heavy rainstorms. Xinhua earlier reported 300,000 people had been evacuated from southeastern coastal areas in Zhejiang on Thursday.
