Federica Mogherini, the European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy announced EU backing up of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) latest call for the United Nations' General Assembly to convene, in order to discuss the phenomenon of Islamophobia. During a visit to Pakistan, she said that the emergence of Islamophobia poses a threat to all, adding that it is not only targeting Muslims, but also it is targeting our communities, too. Thus, she explained, to me and to the EU, it is among our priorities that Islamophobia shall not find a place, in the EU countries, and that is the reason to take part with the New Zealand Prime Minister leadership to confront the terrorist attacks, which have taken place, ten days ago, there. She also announced the EU readiness to cooperate with its partners, not only with the OIC, but also through the UN member states' framework.
