European blue chips fell 0.6 percent. The narrower DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index fell 0.9 percent. Japan's Nikkei fell 0.80 percent to a 10-week closing low, closing down 88.32 points to 10,972.57, below the 11,000 mark for the first time since May 25. The broader Japanese TOPIX index was down 9.73 points or 0.87 percent at 1,107.12. In the debt market, the interest rate sensitive two-year Schatz yield, which moves opposite to the bond price, was down 0.5 basis points at 2.542 percent. The 10-yer Bund yield was unchanged on the day at 4.152 percent. Front-month September crude pared some of its early gains, still trading five cents a barrel higher on the day at $41.20.
