Asian markets were mixed on Thursday, AP reported. South Korea's Kospi lost 0.9 percent to 1,992.21. The Shanghai Composite index dropped 0.1 percent to 2,463.78 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 0.5 percent at 25,000.87. Australia's S&P-ASX 200 rebounded 1.4 percent to 5,633.40. Shares fell in Singapore but rose in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Japan's markets were closed. Benchmark U.S. crude shed 92 cents to $45.62 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract jumped 2.5 percent to $46.54 per barrel on Wednesday. Brent crude, used to price international oils, lost 61 cents to $54.30 per barrel. It added 2.1 percent to $54.91 per barrel in London. The dollar slipped to 106.90 yen from 108.86 late Wednesday. The euro rose to $1.1365 from $1.1344.
