Asian stocks rose on Monday, AP reported. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index added 1 percent to 22,819.02 and South Korea's Kospi rose 0.3 percent to 2,300.18. Hong Kong's Hang Seng jumped 2 percent to 28,219.33. The Shanghai Composite rebounded 1.6 percent to 2,772.11. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.4 percent to 6,268.90. Southeast Asian indexes were mostly higher. Benchmark U.S. crude added 5 cents to $68.77 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract gained 1.3 percent to settle at $68.72 per barrel on Friday. Brent crude, used to price international oils, picked up 7 cents to $75.89 in London. The dollar eased to 111.07 yen from 111.20 yen in late trading Friday. The euro dropped to $1.1618 from $1.1625.
