Shares were mixed in Asia on Wednesday, AP reported. Japan's Nikkei 225 index gave up early gains to fall 0.1 percent to 22,644.31 and the Shanghai Composite index fell 1.0 percent to 2,752.49. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index added 0.1 percent to 28,280.03. Australia's S&P ASX 200 climbed 0.2 percent to 6,268.20 while South Korea's Kospi was flat at 2,300.67. India's Sensex climbed 0.4 percent to 37,826.36. Shares rose in Indonesia and Thailand but fell in Singapore. U.S. crude oil picked up 1 cent to $69.18 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It added 16 cents to $69.17 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, the standard for international oil prices, gave up 6 cents to $74.59 a barrel. The dollar slipped to 111.19 yen from 111.37 yen. The euro rose to $1.1612 from $1.1599.
