Shares were mostly higher in Asia on Monday, AP reported. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged 0.1 percent higher to 22,469.40 and South Korea's Kospi rose 0.7 percent to 2,478.17. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.6 percent to 30,779.76 while the Shanghai Composite in mainland China was flat at 3,141.09. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.5 percent to 6,002.20. Southeast Asian shares were mixed. Benchmark U.S. crude tumbled $1.69 a barrel, or 25 percent, to $65.19 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract dropped $2.83, or 4 percent, to settle at $67.88 on Friday. The dollar strengthened to 109.58 yen from 109.40 yen in late trading Friday. The euro rose to $1.1720 from $1.1652.
