A delegation from the Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the level of Foreign Ministers visited Brussels to meet with EU High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy Policy Federica Mugherini in the framework of moving and communicating with influential countries and international organizations to convey the message of the Extraordinary Islamic Summit held on December 13, 2017 in Istanbul on its position rejecting the decision of the US administration to recognize Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as the alleged capital of Israel and the transfer of its embassy to it, and any attempts to change the legal and historical status of the city. Secretary-General of OIC Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen stressed that this diplomatic move comes within the framework of mobilizing international support for efforts to launch a political process under international multilateral auspices, in accordance with a fixed timetable, to end the Israeli occupation, based on the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative, call of the countries that did not recognize the state of Palestine to recognize it and its occupied East Jerusalem as its capital, support Palestine's accession to international organizations and conventions, and the need to ensure the international protection of the Palestinian people. The Executive Committee of OIC includes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Gambia, Uzbekistan, Côte d'Ivoire and Bangladesh, as well as the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
