Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheg, Assistant Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Political Affairs and Negotiations, has had talks here with the United Kingdom's Minister of State for the Middle East Affairs Alistair Burt. During the meeting, which took place yesterday, they discussed programs and mechanisms to enhance strategic partnership between the GCC and the United Kingdom in the political, economic, security and cultural fields which were announced in December 2016. The two sides discussed the Palestinian Cause and the Iranian interference in the region as well as the ballistic missile program. They also discussed the existing cooperation between the two sides in combating terrorism in addition to the situations in Yemen, Syria and Iraq. The GCC Assistant Secretary General affirmed that the council pays great attention to this strategic partnership with the UK upon directives of the GCC leaders. For his part, the UK minister stressed the importance of partnership with the GCC, lauding the ongoing visit by the HRH the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Britain.
