The state visit made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Moscow in October last year has laid the foundation for concrete cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Russia in different fields, Valentina Matviinco, speaker of the Federal Assembly (Senate) of Federal Republic of Russia, has confirmed, citing the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding during the visit. The statement came during her meeting, which took place yesterday, with Dr. Yahya bin Abdullah Al-Samaan, Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, currently on an official visit to Russia. The meeting was attended by the Saudi ambassador to Russia Dr. Raed bin Khalid Garmali. She expressed gratitude and appreciation of the distinguished ties binding the Kingdom and Russia in all fields and said she is gearing forward to further enhancing them at the Russian senate and Saudi Shura Council through the parliamentary friendship committees in the two countries and mutual visits. For his part, Al-Samaan expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Russian senate for the role it was playing to cement ties between the two chambers and countries. On the other hand, Dr. Al-Samaan met with the vice speaker of the Russian senate El-Yass Omakhnov in his office here yesterday in the attendance of Ambassador Garmali. During the meeting Omakhnov noted the firmness of relations between the two countries, crowned by the state visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Russia last year, pointing the high-profile of the two economies and leverage on the regional and international theatre, citing the joint investments and world energy. He called for facilitating the movement of businessmen of the two countries, through fluent visa granting, lifting of money-transfer and cancelling travel restrictions.
