Prince Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), participated in the 2nd International Space Exploration Forum (ISEF2) which was held in Tokyo on March 3, 2018. Representatives from 45 countries and international organizations participated at ISEF2. The forum discussed promoting space exploration and future directions through international cooperation in the field of space exploration. In the first panel discussion, the KACST President said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has exerted great efforts to localize space sciences and technologies, considering space as one of the leading strategic sciences of technology and innovation. The Kingdom has set up a sustainable program for space technology and satellite applications by training the Saudi scientists and engineers. The program focuses on four main fields: earth observation, communications, space sciences and planets exploration. "In order to support these fields, the Kingdom has launched successfully 13 satellites since 2000, and it will launch three satellites this year," he added.
