The Yemeni Coalition to Monitor Human Rights Violations has organized a symposium at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, on Yemeni internally displaced people and mines planting, on the sidelines of the 37th Session of the Council. The human rights activist Yusuf Abu Ras said that the effects of the mines planted by Iran-backed Houthi militias are the killing and maiming of innocent people, especially children, impeding economic development and harming displaced people and preventing them from returning to their countries. The human rights activist Essam Al-Shaeri said that the mines, that are used by Houthi militia and transferred from Iran to Yemen is a major challenge to the international campaign to ban landmines and to the international community, and it is a clear breach of resolution 2216.
